July 17, 2023Aged Care providers say time’s up for government to reimburse COVID expenditure
July 23, 2023CHA is hosting a webinar series for Members and fellow travellers featuring expert speakers who will discuss various aspects of palliative care delivery, the impact of ELDAC, and improving end-of-life care in different settings. The series is being held between June – November this year.
Our second webinar was held on Tuesday 11 July 2023 and featured Naomi Lewis, Clinical Manager and ELDAC co-ordinator; and Associate Professor Natasha Michael, Palliative Care Physician.
Naomi Lewis is Clinical Manager of Residential Services at VMCH including a portfolio of 14 homes and has been working in aged care for over 10 years.
Naomi addressed how ‘dying a good death’ should be discussed openly and how ELDAC resources assist all providers to ensure a consultative resident and client-centred focus on end-of-life care.
Associate Professor Natasha Michael is part of the Cabrini Supportive and Palliative Care Service that provides an integrated service across Cabrini Health, caring for patients across all Cabrini sites and in the community.
She discussed how Cabrini Health manages palliative care delivery and how they invested to develop the capacity to manage palliative care delivery including how they access publicly funded services.
The presenters answered questions from attendees which covered cultural challenges and change, barriers with family expectations and managing grief.
