The University of Notre Dame Australia has announced the appointment of Paul McClintock AO as the eighth Chancellor of the University.
“Mr McClintock brings to the responsibilities of Chancellor personal and professional attributes of the highest order, a distinguished record of leadership and service in both the public and private sectors as well as a deep commitment to the values and aspirations of our University,” it said in a statement.
Mr McClintock, a former Board Director of Catholic Health Australia from 2020-2025, joins the University as Chancellor after serving for the past six years as Chair of St Vincent’s Health Australia, where he was also a Member of the Board of Directors for 12 years.
He Chaired a large and diverse range of organisations including Icon Group, I-MED Australia, New South Wales Ports, the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), Myer, Thales Australia, Medibank Private and the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Reform Council.
Mr McClintock also served as Secretary to the Federal Cabinet and Head of the Cabinet Policy Unit from 2000 to 2003, the Health Insurance Commission and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

Mr McClintock will take up his role with the University on 1 January 2026 following the expiry of the term of office of the current Chancellor, the Honourable Chris Ellison, who has been Chancellor since January 2018.
