Catholic Health Australia (CHA) has launched Health Matters, the first podcast produced and hosted by an Australian health peak body.
New episodes will be released monthly, covering issues across health, aged care and mission.
Future topics will include aged care reform, workforce sustainability, hospital funding and palliative care.
“Both health and aged care are at a critical juncture, facing growing demand as well as significant workforce and funding pressures. Getting these systems right matters deeply for every Australian,” said Jenny Parker, Chair of Catholic Health Australia.
“As the peak body representing the largest network of non-government providers across both sectors, CHA has a responsibility to lead conversations about reform, and to speak up on behalf of our members, and Health Matters will help us do that.”
The inaugural Health Matters episode features CHA’s Director of Health Policy Dr Katharine Bassett in conversation with respected health economist James Downie, examining how legacy funding models are driving inefficiency across the health system.
The episode centres on the case for a Private National Efficient Price to bring transparency and sustainability to private hospital funding.
