Catholic Health Australia welcomes opportunity to help fix aged care funding through new taskforce
June 7, 2023Pat Garcia steps down as CHA chief to take on new role in Catholic health sector
July 17, 2023CHA is hosting a webinar series for Members and fellow travellers featuring expert speakers who will discuss various aspects of palliative care delivery, the impact of ELDAC, and improving end-of-life care in different settings. The series will take place over June – November this year.
In our first webinar on 6 June, Professor Meera Agar* addressed the challenges of palliative care delivery in both a hospital and aged care setting – are they different? Do we have to develop internal palliative care services? What is access to palliative care services really like – especially in rural and remote settings. She finished by answering two important questions:
- What can we do?
- Does ELDAC help with the conversation?
Professor Agar was also available for Q and As from attendees which covered risk management, palliative care in the home, and pastoral care.
* Professor Meera Agar is the Professor of Palliative Medicine, University of Technology Sydney (UTS); Director of Centre for Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation (IMPACCT), senior palliative care physician, and research lead for Southwest Sydney Local Health District Palliative Care Service.
