CHA backs AMA push for greater access to out-of-hospital care
December 9, 2024The University of South Australia has launched a research project to explore the views and perceptions of LGBTI+ older adults as they navigate aged care services in Australia.
UniSA is currently seeking participants who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex who currently access aged care services, or have accessed services in the past two years, and who are interested in sharing their perspectives and experiences.
“The purpose of the research is to understand the views and perceptions of LGBTI+ older adults who have, or are, utilising aged care,” said PhD candidate and primary researcher Sarah McMullen-Roach from the University of South Australia.
“This information could lead to formulating recommendations for how aged care can be inclusive for sexually and gender diverse populations.”
Participation is voluntary and people can withdraw at any time before or during the interview. The study will involve either a face-to-face or online interviews.
The project has been approved by the University of South Australia’s Human Research Ethics Committee.
