Action on palliative care provision long overdue

A new report showing a massive increase in the number of Australians accessing palliative care in hospitals again underlines what health and aged care providers have been saying for years: End-of-life care needs funding support as part of ongoing health and aged care reform.

CHA apologises for past adoption practices

On 28 September, Catholic Health Australia's chief executive Martin Laverty appeared before a Senate Inquiry into past adoption practices. Mr Laverty issued an apology for the role of Catholic hospitals and health services in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s of promoting and implementing the once widespread public policy of placing the children of some unmarried young mothers in the care of adoptive parents.
