Catholic Health Australia and Australian Catholic University partner to further education and healing

Australian Catholic University (ACU) and Catholic Health Australia (CHA) signed a Statement of Strategic Intent on Monday 29 August in Sydney to promote two of the Church’s widest reaching ministries, committed to progressing education in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and care that advocates the healing ministry of Christ.

The signing was held ahead of a graduation ceremony for 24 senior industry leaders of ACU’s Graduate Leadership and Catholic Culture and in conjunction with CHA’s Annual National Conference in Sydney.

The Statement aims for a collaborative approach to promote key areas such as:

  • Common Mission
  • Research
  • Clinical placements
  • Professional Development
  • Catholic Alliance for International Development and International Activities
  • Events and Sponsorship

ACU Provost Professor Pauline Nugent said ACU and CHA had been working in close partnership over several years, the results of which included creation of the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Catholic Culture amongst other activities.

“This Statement of Strategic Intent is the first of a series of steps in which ACU and Catholic Health Australia will forge new ground to work with the health and aged care sector to achieve its mission,” Professor Nugent said.

Chief Executive Officer of CHA Suzanne Greenwood said “To enter into this Statement of Strategic Intent on the eve of the commencement of our National Conference, which has a theme this year of ‘The Difference We Make’, is testimony to the passion that exists to explore opportunities for collaboration in support of the mission of both CHA and ACU.”
