STOP INCENTIVISING WASTEFUL ‘JUNK’ HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES – CHA
February 13, 2022Clinical Nurse Specialist Julie West marked an incredible career milestone this week – it’s been 45 years since she first climbed the steps of St Vincent’s Hospital Lismore as a young nurse trainee.
“I think nursing gets in your blood. St Vincent’s has always been my second home. I’ve seen lots of changes, but it’s been good.
“I messaged a friend that I started my training with, and said remember this day 45 years ago? We started as young 17-year olds here, and we didn’t even know how to put our uniforms on; they were all starched.”
Today also is World Day of the Sick, marked by Catholics the world over. Pope Francis paid tribute to those who are sick and health professionals and volunteers for dedicating their lives to helping those who suffer.
Julie was also the recipient of a special Compassion Award, awarded by St Vincent’s for the ‘kindness and warmth’ she always shows to patients and staff. Congratulations, Julie, from all your St Vincent’s colleagues and friends.
