May 23, 2024Werribee Mercy Hospital (WMH) is committed to fostering a resilient and talented healthcare workforce. A key part of doing so is the Mercy Health Graduate Programs.
For colleagues Holly Jane Silvester and Janice O’Brien (pictured above), their journey to becoming nurses at the Werribee Mercy Hospital began with the Graduate Nursing Program.
Born at WMH and raised in Werribee, Holly’s affinity for healthcare began at a young age, and came full circle as she returned to pursue a passion for paediatric and maternity care.
For mature aged student Janice, her mother’s nursing tenure with Mercy Health in Ireland paired with WMH’s steadfast commitment for quality care was what drove her to apply.
Despite their differing motivations and backgrounds, Holly and Janice both enjoyed their time completing the program in January 2023 and now work full-time at the hospital. Their journeys underscore the program’s success in nurturing talent to provide compassionate and responsive care to people in need across Mercy Health’s services.
WMH’s Graduate Nursing Program provides aspiring junior nurses, like Holly and Janice, the opportunity to acquire practical experience across perioperative services, geriatric evaluation and management, the Special Care Nursery, Emergency Department, Palliative Care, Medical/Surgical, Short Stay Unit and Paediatrics.
Applications for Mercy Health’s Graduate Program close on Friday 21 June 2024.
