January 14, 2026Mercy Health Australia has appointed Gavin Young as Chief Executive, Healthy Ageing, following an internal appointment.
Gavin joined Mercy Health in January 2024 as the Executive General Manager, Residential Operations, where he has played a key role in strengthening operational capability across Mercy Health’s residential aged care portfolio.
During his tenure, Gavin has led significant development and growth initiatives, including the delivery of Mercy Place Mentone and Golden Rise Retirement Village, as well as the successful operationalisation of Mercy Place Yarrawonga and Mercy Place Myrtleford.
Prior to joining Mercy Health, Gavin held senior leadership roles at Calvary Health, Bupa and St Vincent’s Private Hospital. He brings broad experience across aged care, retirement living and private health services, with a strong focus on operational excellence and person-centred care.
Commenting on his appointment, Gavin said, “I am honoured to step into the role of Chief Executive, Healthy Ageing. I look forward to working alongside our teams to continue delivering compassionate, high-quality care that supports the dignity, wellbeing and independence of older people in our community.”
Gavin will commence in the role in the new year, following the retirement of Clare Douglas on 5 January 2026.
Gavin holds a Master of Business Administration from Swinburne University and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Catholic Culture from Australian Catholic University.
