August 13, 2025Mercy Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Clinton Cummins as Chief Executive, Health Services.
He steps into the role after serving for the past two years as Executive Director, Transformation and Performance Improvement at Mercy Health, where he played a pivotal role in driving major change programs focused on quality, safety, and financial sustainability.
Confirming the appointment, Mercy Health Group Chief Executive Officer, Angela Nolan, highlighted Clinton’s deep commitment to public health, quality improvement and performance transformation. She said, “Clinton brings a rare blend of clinical insight, operational expertise, and a people-first leadership style. His deep understanding of the public and private health landscape, combined with his strong track record in leading complex transformation, make him exceptionally well placed to lead our Health Services division into the future.”
Clinton’s remit includes oversight of Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg and Werribee Mercy Hospital, along with associated mental health, maternity, emergency, gynaecology, and palliative services across western Melbourne and into southern New South Wales.
His career spans more than a decade in public health, including executive leadership roles at St Vincent’s Health Australia, where he oversaw Virtual and Home Healthcare, Performance Improvement, and Quality. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked closely with Safer Care Victoria and the Department of Health, leading the establishment of mass vaccination centres at the Royal Exhibition Building and Broadmeadows.
Earlier in his career, Clinton held leadership roles in quality, business improvement, and innovation at Victoria Police, Toyota (in both Australia and Japan), and within the UK public sector.
“I am passionate about empowering people and strengthening collaboration to improve outcomes for the communities we serve,” Clinton said. “We’re on an exciting journey at Mercy Health. Together, we will continue to deliver exceptional care, embrace new opportunities, and navigate the challenges ahead by evolving our culture of continuous improvement.”
In welcoming Clinton into the new position, Mercy Health acknowledges the valuable contribution made by his predecessor, our esteemed colleague Michael Krieg, during his time in the role.
