Sisters of Charity celebrate 100 years in Brisbane and SE Queensland
June 4, 2025Mercy Community has welcomed its newest team members as part of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.
Nine staff from Papua New Guinea arrived in Brisbane en route to Rockhampton, where they’ll be working as carers across Mercy Community’s aged care facilities.
The organisation is thrilled to have the group join Mercy Community’s mission to provide compassionate, person-centred care to residents. Their skills, values, and cultural richness will strengthen Mercy’s teams and enrich the lives of those whom they support every day.
One of the people supporting them on their journey is Grace Jonathan who first came to Australia through the PALM Scheme with another organisation. Grace will be playing a key role in helping the new recruits settle into life and work in Rockhampton.
You can read more about Grace’s inspiring journey and how she’s turning her own experience into support for others.
