Medibank and St John of God Health Care have partnered to enhance value and accessibility for both customers and patients. The joint commitment focuses on innovation, including the design of new care options for customers in both regional and metropolitan areas.
St John of God Health Care’s network spans 16 hospitals across Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.
St John of God Murdoch will be the second hospital in Western Australia to join Medibank’s no gap program for selected services, with over 58 per cent of Medibank customers in the state living within 25km of the sites.
Medibank Chief Customer Officer Milosh Milisavljevic welcomed the opportunity to innovate with one of Australia’s largest not-for-profit private hospital groups.
“This is a partnership built around patients and the way that healthcare can be delivered to them today and into the future – regardless of whether they live in a regional, remote or metropolitan area,” Mr Milisavljevic said.
“New care options can benefit all our customers and accelerate the health transition to support the long-term sustainability of the health system.
“We are pleased that more customers in Western Australia will have access to the no gap program for a range of procedures. The average saving for a hip or knee replacement through the program has been around $2,250 to date. This is a big saving on the household budget, particularly for those who might otherwise delay the procedure due to cost.”
St John of God Health Care Group CEO Bryan Pyne said the partnership was a good example of how it is delivering on its new strategy by collaborating with longstanding partners like Medibank to develop new patient care models while remaining true to its Mission.
“As the health needs of Australians rapidly evolve, St John of God Health Care continues to transform its care offering by focusing on patient experience and access. Our new strategy aims to do this by enhancing outcomes through new and sustainable models of care and strengthening relationships with partners, including Medibank, and the communities we serve,” Mr Pyne said.
“This is a sustainable funding model for regional hospitals, enabling us to meet the growing needs of these communities so they can access care closer to home,” he said.
“It demonstrates our commitment to delivering care that transcends boundaries, ensuring communities across Australia, including those in regional and remote areas, have access to quality, compassionate private health care.
