St John of God Health Care opens new trauma service for frontline heroes
March 17, 2025The Governor-General of Australia, Her Excellency The Hon Sam Mostyn AC, visited St Vincent’s in Sydney recently, spending time with people experiencing homelessness.
Before the day unfolded, Her Excellency joined the Homeless Health Outreach service team on patrol, meeting with some of the city’s most vulnerable in the early hours of the morning.
St Vincent’s Homeless Health Outreach service has long been dedicated to providing healthcare to people sleeping rough, meeting them where they are and on their own terms. The community-based model of care reduces the escalation of chronic health conditions, and in turn, hospital admissions.
Multidisciplinary teams from St Vincent’s deliver care with dignity and respect to everyone – and include nurses, doctors, allied health staff, Aboriginal Health Workers and peer support workers.
The engagement and visit by the Governor-General once again underscores the importance of this work.
