July 22, 2025The National Retirement Living Council has recognised the CEO of Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & Vic) David Moran for his outstanding contribution to the reputation, growth and development of retirement living in Australia.
David was inducted as a Retirement Living Council Honorary Life Member at the council’s national summit in Brisbane recently, recognising his significant and longstanding contribution to the retirement living sector over many decades.
“It is just so humbling to have the privilege of being recognised with Honorary Life Membership of the RLC alongside the names of luminaries that I have personally learnt from and stood on the shoulders of. The sector’s generous collaboration and focus on resident engagement and wellbeing have always been its most enduring qualities,” David said.
David has more than three decades of executive management experience in retirement living and aged care. Having joined Southern Cross Care in 2011 as Executive Manager – Retirement Living, he became Deputy CEO the following year, before moving into the CEO role in 2017.
His experience includes development, acquisition, marketing, management and consulting with Adelaide Bank, retirement village operator Primelife (now Keyton) and not-for-profit aged care provider ACH Group. He has previously been on the board of Multi Cultural Aged Care and has also participated extensively with industry representative bodies such as Aged and Community Services and the Retirement Living Council.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Property Resource Management (Valuation) and is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute. He is passionate about the Better for life vision of Southern Cross Care for older people, borne out of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal around healthy lives and promotion of wellbeing at all ages.
The summit brought together industry leaders and experts, serving as a platform to address the challenges and opportunities within the retirement living sector.
Rosemary Southgate from Law Practice Russell Kennedy was also inducted for her contribution to the sector.
